About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced business development professional as we grow our business development team.  This capable individual will be a major contributor to acquisition of new clients for our Viral Sensitizer formulations, which we anticipate to only accelerate over the coming years.  Responsibilities include participating in developing Virica’s business development strategy, execution of outreach to all potential clients, negotiation and closing of evaluation transactions.  The role will hold and maintain the client relationship through all early phases, with the goal of closing a commercial transaction.  The role will have a lot of autonomy and will report to the Chief Business Officer of Virica.

Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Source and triage business development opportunities with contract manufacturers or other potential clients (network, conferences, inbound opportunities). 

  • Perform outreach, negotiations, agreement drafting and closing as well and follow up post agreement and future contracts (full relationship lifecycle management)

  • Support identification and negation of larger, strategic partnerships as appropriate

  • Maintain Virica’s Customer Relationship Management software up to date

  • Communicate with Virica’s technical team in order to develop and update materials for business development and support client communications

  • Actively pursue and identify value-creating opportunities

Requirements: Qualifications 

  • 5-10 years of experience in business development or sales. 

  • Substantial biological sciences expertise required (biologics manufacturing experience strongly preferred). 

  • Track record of negotiating and closing deals 

  • Strong network within the contract manufacturing or gene therapy development community is significant advantage. 

  • PhD and/or MBA preferable

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced , and adaptable scientist to help manage the research and development of virus manufacturing enhancing formulations based on Virica’s proprietary technology, adding to its existing portfolio of products. This aspect will also require working closely with the business development team to interface with clients, acting as the scientific liaison for the company.  In conjunction with regulatory consultants and reporting to the Virica Executive, successful candidates will also direct research activities in order to achieve our objective of bringing Virica’s internal pre-clinical oncolytic virus therapeutic program to clinical studies. The role will also involve support for dilutive and non-dilutive financing activities and will consequently require effective written and oral communication skills.

Primary Job Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with the executive team to help set and drive the Company’s research and scientific priorities in alignment with the Company’s IP, licensing and product development objectives

  • Contribute to product development strategy working with executive team, and other consultants

  • Act as liaison with subcontractors and consultants

  • Assist business development team in phone or in person partnering discussions with clients when required

  • Developing and managing project budgets, project planning, and ensuring execution of the associated operational plans through the coordination of scientific staff and project resources, generation of meeting minutes as required, and both tracking and influencing delivery of action items.

  • Coordination of activities with client representatives and external collaborators. 

  • Communication with internal and external project stakeholders, Ensuring clarity and strong communication across the core program team, extended team and various internal stakeholders.

  • Partnering with executive and project leads in preparing slide decks, updates, and information for ongoing project team meetings, reviews, board meetings, scientific presentations and other appropriate meetings

  • Support scientific team decision making and ensure clear documentation

  • Collaborate with the executive team in preparing packages for financing activities and regulatory filings

  • Contribute to the establishment of new laboratory facilities, including facilities planning and equipment purchasing.

  • Participate in team expansion through interviews and evaluations of new R&D team members

Requirements: Qualifications 

  • PhD level in microbiology, biochemistry, immunology or related biomedical sciences

  • Solid scientific background in Microbiology, Biochemistry and extensive experience and knowledge in virology.

  • 5+ years of management experience with a proven track record of building and leading interdisciplinary, high performing teams

  • Practical experience in project and budget management

  • Experience in experimental design

  • Exposure to data science concepts, encompassing statistics and analysis

  • Familiarity with biomedical product commercialization challenges and regulatory strategies

  • Extensive experience in a breadth of assay and techniques relating to viral therapeutic development
